Destroyer Discount and Aircraft Carrier Beef-Up

GameAdmin's picture

Hello everyone,

As a new school year starts, the battles still rage on.  We have made two small changes to the rules.

The price for Destroyers has been reduced from 30 to 25 credits.

Aircraft Carriers can now carry up to four fighters each, up from two previously.

The price change will only take effect on new games, and the display in the client will be a little off to start.  The Aircraft Carrier change takes effect immediately for all games.

While we are very satisfied with the rules as they are, we are always open to new changes that may make them even better.  Thank you to everyone who provided feedback both for and against the modifications.

We also have some new features in the pipe and will be releasing them when they are ready.

See you on the battlefield,
    The BATTLE FORCES Team.

this is in effect for games that start after 9/05/11?

GameAdmin's picture

It is in effect for all games that start after the annoucement was made.  For older games, the price will be still 30 but will be displayed as 25 in the purchase tray.  So a little bit of care will be required for the older games until they are finished.

Any hints as to what is in the works?  Is a new Forum one of them?

For those that want to game the system, you might like to know that trying to build a destroyer when you only have $29 or less will lead to the build apparently being allowed at the end of the turn.  However, at the beginning of the next you'll have $25 more left in the bank and no destroyer

hmmm, this sounds like someone might be speaking from experience Bromley?!?!

Except the translucent retreat arrows have dissappeared now when you hover over your units!

Thanks, Admin!

Kinda wondering how the 4 fighter carrier will work out, stepping away from the A & A traditional set-up, quite a platform for executing war. We'll see how it balances out; it'll be fun trying it out!

Also makes not understanding exactly how carriers (and fighters) work potentially very costly....

Sounds good.

Not sure that this is the case.  I can still see them.  There are places where the retreat arrows have never displayed, perhaps you saw that?

I share McCarth's concern.  In A&A, Japan starts with two carriers and six or so fighters?  The UK would take a minimum of three rounds to fully load its one carrier?  I am very happy with the concept of the changes and look forward to seeing how it will work out in execution!

i think AA is not going to be much of a problem. the allies seem to be getting a bit of an adventage by being able to build cheaper destroeyrs with higher bang per buck. if something the Axis are a bit more disadventaged but i don't think it is a dealbreaker. perhaps another AA turnament?

In the current A&A H2H, the results pre-change were Allies5, Axis2.  So everything after that is post-change.

Still not sure if the 5:2 was an anomoly, as we'd expect because the belief was that A&A was very well balanced, or whether the Allies benefit from single control.  I suspect it's an anomoly, because we've had tourney's where the Allied team have cooperated extremely thoroughly.
