Adjustable game speed

It would be interesting to have an adjustable game speed feature, where you can create the game with one speed, and then change it after the game has started.  One fantastic result of this option is it would facilitate a lot more manual land zone picking games, since you could pre-arrange them in Player Gathering for everyone to be online at the same time, do 10 minute speed turns for land zone picking, then 24 hour turns (or whatever) for the rest of game play.

One caveat to this option, it would be essential that all players in the game agree to the change (so someone suggests the change through a game option, then all active players when they log in get a prompt about the suggested change, and must click agree).  This will prevent someone from cheating and just changing a game to 10 minute rounds when others are offline and "deadbeating" them to get a cheap win.

Alternative:  Allow during creation of games, when manual land zone picking is chosen, to have a different speed parameter for the land zone selection.  So I could set a game up that is 10 minute rounds (maybe even make 5 minute rounds an option for this) specifically for land zone selection, then once land zone selection is complete the game would automatically change to whatever speed I set up for the play of turns (24 hours or whatever).

The biggest hurdle with this option would be coordinating all players to be online for the nation picking turns.

Yeah for sure, but it could be done (and would be particularly useful for smaller fields or H2H games).

Another thought I just had, similar to tournament poker a feature where these games go at a certain time on the clock would work.  I'm not sure it works for team games but it would work for non-team games.  Essentially what we have now in poker parlance are sit and goes... once X number have registered the game starts.  If you could create games to start at a specific date and time, then you could be reasonably sure the players who register would be available to pick their land zones since they know exactly when they'd need to be there.   So maybe I create an 8 player game to launch at 8pm ET on the 30th January.  People that can't be there at that time won't sign up (in theory lol).  Once registration fills at 8, the game does not launch yet, but no longer accepts registrations (unless someone unregisters).  It launches at the preset time.  If the preset time comes and only 5 are registered, it launches as a 5 player game.   Perhaps you could set a minimum required players too... the default minimum would be 2 players, but maybe I want to set it at 6, so if there's only 5 the game cancels instead of launches.  If I only want to do this game if it fills I could set the minimum to be 8.

I like this idea. :D
