HTML tags still won't work

I've attempted on many occassions to use the tags

for url links etc. and none of them function.

Regardless of rich-text being disabled or not.

Bold

Testing.

Got it The rich-text option (default on) seems to be translating the angle bracket to the 4 characters & l t ; (without the spaces). No idea why, but that's what's screwing the coding. Disable rich-text and it all works.

Links convert when you paste/enter the text.

so what is the rich-text?
I thought I'd attempted the html tags with the rich text disabled, but maybe I didn't retype my post after doing it.

edit: The tags worked in the space where I typed my message, but not in the text that's posted.

Just below the Comment box you'll see the blue link that says "disable rich-text".  Click on that and instead of easy-to-read text, it shows text with all the formatting tags.

If you enter your tags now, they won't be converted.
