Well, I have finally completed my last game, so it's time for me to depart. Sadly, I haven't seen anything at all from the administration to make me believe I was wrong in my beliefs about their efforts or intentions, so there really is no reason to stay. It's really too bad, because this site had the potential to be tremendous, in my opinion.
For your all's sake I do hope that changes, but I don't believe it will.
At any rate, have fun. I won't be stopping back by, so feel free to flame me for my "lack of faith" here. (grin)
Actually they ARE handling the situation of multis...
Of course there has always only been one reason to stay and that is to enjoy playing this game. It is too bad that you have given up on the game, but if you aren't having fun playing then it is an absolutely logical choice to depart and not look back.
I agree with your personal opinion that this site has tremendous potential. Which should be the one thing that encourages you to return once in a while to see if it has grown in a direction you can appreciate more than you do right now.
Sadly, I haven't seen anything at all from the administration to make me believe I was wrong in my beliefs about their efforts or intentions
Sadly, this is not true. One of your biggest complaints (at least that you made public) was the issue of multi-accounters rolling unchallenged by the administration. I remember you posting that you pm'ed admin and the reply you got basically indicated they didn't care and had no intention to do anything about multis. And this has proven untrue, as they have formed the moderator group and empowered us with tools to both search for and ban multis.
Yes, change has been slow. Yes, response and visibility of the admin group could be improved, probably quite a bit. I think those are fair statements. But to say they've done nothing and don't care, is unfair imo, and plainly not true.
As was already stated, the site is still beta. Perhaps when they go to a full pay site they'll put more focus on the customer service aspects, or if that's not their cup of tea (if they are primarily gaming programers, it may not be), maybe they'll hire or partner with someone to manage that side of the business for them. But for now, you can play 10 games at a time for free under beta for a reason.
I will agree there are reasons to be critical about how some things have been handled, BUT bugs have been addressed and fixed, enhancements have been done, new maps produced... all this maybe slower than some would like but change IS happening. And the biggest issue I saw when I started here a few months ago, the problem with multi-accounting, they have taken clear steps to address and counter.
Seems ConquerClub is down...and I'm bored sitting here at lunch (talk to the wife?!??!), so I figured I'd stop back by.
While it's true that one of my biggest complaints was about multis and they have (finally) done something in that regard, the truth of the matter is that's the ONLY thing that's been done.
We've got some VERY simple suggestions that would take almost no time to implement and would make a WORLD of difference to the site...and they haven't been touched.
Even the very basics are going unheeded. Captcha for every post still? How long ago were they allegedly looking at alternatives for the forums? Seriously...look through the Suggestions...very easy implementations.
And that just fits precisely what I'm referring to about the PMs I received from them...their interest is in making money with the absolute least amount of effort possible. Yes, the site's still Beta...and it seems to me that it always will be.
Woodruff, quit acting like a spoiled child -_- If you wanna leave, then go ahead and leave. Or, if you wanna stay here and whine about your pet peeves, do that. But don't play this stupid in-between game.
The site is trying. I can't say anything more, because I don't know a whole lot about managing a site. But seriously, leave or stay. You've been "leaving" for a few weeks now, and it's getting old. I hardly think that having some free time on your hands should be all it takes for you to come back to this site. If you're so convinced that these things are easy to do, you can go ahead and make your own site, since you clearly DO have a lot of time on your hands :).
I hope you don't leave, though.
>their interest is in making money with the absolute least amount of effort possible. Yes, the site's still Beta...and it seems to me that it always will be.
Making money with no effort is a pipe dream, if they are that delusional then this venture will surely fail... but somehow I seriously doubt that's the case. Making anthing more than chump change will be pretty difficult in beta, since people can play for free, so if their goal is to make money they have to move past beta and can not stay there forever. If they move past beta and charge for services, but put out a crappy product or crappy customer service ("little to no effort" would mean both I'd say), again it will be difficult to make anything more than chump change and the business will flounder. Therefore, Mr. Spock, I find your statement to be illogical. :)
