Indian Ocean Double Tournament - Teams set (let me know of any problems) - Game assignments to be made this weekend.
This will be a double elimination tournament. Once this gets underway I'll put a link to an updated image of the brackets so you can keep up with it.
Format for each pairing will be best 2 of 3 games. The first two games will be on the Indian Ocean map with distributed territories, 1 infantry per territory, no preset factories, and factory automatically added to each player's capital. In the pairing, each team should be team A once and team B once. If the teams split the two games, they will have a tie breaker on the Standard World map with the same settings. The higher ranked team will be team A. Any game in which a player deadbeats will be counted as a loss for the team with the deadbeating player.
Initial seeds will be determined based on the combined scores of the two players on the leaderboard.

I probably need to go ahead and set a date. I'd like to try to get a few more teams if possible. With 9 teams, two teams will have to play an extra pairing over what all the other teams face. Ideally I'd like to get at least 12 teams.
Spread the info more, don't start prematurely. Start it at the end of the week or whatever. Start saving up 1-2 game spots people, that way we can get it going quickly when we're ready to start.
Everyone should have 1 game slot open, due to the bracketed nature of this tournament you will only be playing in 1 tournament game at a time. I too like this better than the round robin deal.
Good idea posting in the general forum jester, there's a lot who check that forum out regularly but don't look here.
Everyone will actually need two slots. Each match up is best 2 of 3, so the ideal situation would be for the pair of games to start and run simultaneously. If people have a 3rd slot open and it becomes very obvious that they're going to split the first two games, they can go ahead and start the tie-breaker before the first two finish. Otherwise, two should be appropriate in most cases.

You are correct, the bracket must be set up for 8 or 16 teams (I'm assuming we will not get more this time around). However it is possible to set up a 16 team bracket with less than 16 teams, and give first round byes. I set up a sample 16 team double elimination bracket with only 13 teams (so 14/15/16 are "bye" slots), here's what it looks like:

I'd like to split from Goose. I'm playing in a 3-way IO team game and he just totally screwed it by going inactive immediately. Now it's 2003 and his teammate has control of his units territories = game over.
Perhaps he has a reason, but I'd rather not take the chance.
Please pair me with another unmatched player. Poseidon is another old Bromleyonian (nearly anyway, and if that was a real word), so I'll grab him if possible.
