EU Rules!

Barka's picture

For a game that has an overwhelmingly US membership what's the deal with the EU flags for the top 4 players (as of this posting):

1 Bromley86  UK
2 Shaka        France
3 Barka         Deutschland
4 bassiano    Italia

So much for the pacifistic old Europe stereotype Rumsfeld was peddling earlier in the decade....

bassiano's picture

US are too honest for this game :-))

I'm loosing two games... so laederboard will be more balanced! :-/

mateuszbiernat's picture

hey im from U.S.

InGeneral's picture

A temporary anomaly, US will be back up there soon.

sounds like a challenge.

Standard world 6 v. 6 spots taken in order of leaderboard, EU vs. rest of world. (as current #13, I feel confident I'd get to play, but I might get shut out by the 7 non EU'ers above me).

peavybob's picture

Hey, I was #3 just a few days ago.  And you can't really count Bromley since he's a paying member.

And as for being pacifistic, you're playing a war based computer game rather than engaging in war.  Americans do both lol

And sadly the US is performing subpar in SW Asian theatre - I think Al Queda is up there with the EU above the US on the realworld leaderboard.

Not that I have a solution - I advocated an Afghan invasion in 2000 though - everybody thought I was nut back then - different world if that had happened.  Of course I didn't support helping Sadam's enemys ( Al Queda and Iran) by invading Iraq - that never made any sense unless you are a conspiracy theorist and believe the Republicans wanted a quagmire and unsafe world because they are viewed as strong on defense.  The other explanation just involves stupidity.

Why can't you count a paying member?

InGeneral's picture

"US will be back up there soon"

Told ya.

> And you can't really count Bromley since he's a paying member.

In fairness to my tight-as-a-badger's-arse cred, I didn't start paying until after I'd got to no. 1 :) .

kdoggiedog's picture

when i look at the top 100 list... i see 12 of the top twenty are USA.

Barka's picture

Italy is letting the EU down.  Come on Bassiano - knock InGeneral back where he belongs.

20 is a big number I need to take my shoes off for that one.  I was just counting the fingers on one hand.

Actually I guess I'm a monopod.....

here like in the real world :-)

InGeneral's picture

Well never mind me, I just knocked myself down.  Set up a heads up speed (10 min turn) game figuring to be at the computer for a few hours.  Then I had to leave for a child emergency, was away for about 25 minutes, and come back to find some newish player joined and ran me out while I missed turns.   -266 points, thanks for that.

I've lost about 1000 points on misc. garbage like this over the past few months.  I might be a good player one day if I can avoid the bs losses.

nguyendinhnam's picture

Vietnam will climb to the top spot soon ;)

I challenge top players to duel in 1v1 games with me on any map, no initial force (to reduce the randomness).

InGeneral's picture

nguyen has slapped me around 3 times in 1v1 games, I would pay to watch a bromley v nguyen matchup.

peavybob's picture

Hey, nguyen,  how bout you and me on the hex map with standard starting forces?

drkillitz69's picture

i will happily smack you on standard world or ww2.

nguyendinhnam's picture

I prefer no starting force so the game is more balanced, and no one starts with huge advantage over the other.

And I prefer regular map so all types of force can be used effectively.

> Hey, nguyen,  how bout you and me on the hex map with standard
starting forces?

nguyendinhnam's picture

I'll create a WW2 map and send you the invitation.

Hex is a regular map.  I use all the forces effectively on the Hex map?

InGeneral, at least you got to beat me twice at full world maps, right?

Tashen+Tigerpiper>Barka+PeavyBob

Tiebreaker in tourney starting today. GOGOGOGO

InGeneral's picture

Yes but I just got lucky against you.  Nguyen spanked me 3 times.

nguyendinhnam's picture

Hex is the map for premium users, it's not regular as all.

In Hex, army needs transport, so they are crippled.

InGeneral's picture

Not true.  The system generated Hex map games are for premium users (which, btw, is a FREE upgrade while battleforces is in beta, for those who don't know).   But the custom games you create can be set to allow basic members to play even on the Hex map.

nguyendinhnam's picture

I created 4 public 1v1 games of different distribution of land and different maps, strong players, you are invited to join those public games to test my skill.

mateuszbiernat's picture

how about a match on standard world map. EU versus rest of the world?

Tigerpiper's picture

Ok. I will create that game- EU (Team A) vs. rest of world (Team B).

5 on 5 team game, full world, 1 inf/territory, distributed, factory at capital, forces survive elim of capital (my logic here is the forces are the team, not each nation).

I will send out invites based on the leaderboard. If you get one and don't want to play, reply, and I will invite the next down.

 Thanks!

Initial invites for Team A:

Bromley

Shaka

Barka

Bassiano

Hex

team B:

PeavyBob

   nguyendinhnam

Burg

InGeneral

Tigerpiper (as creator I have to have a place, so if Shanghai guy really wants this spot, I will cancel the game and he can recreate it.)

I'm in.

bassiano's picture

in,

but I will come back from Alpes monday26 if you already start no prob ;-)

InGeneral's picture

No problem waiting a few days.

drkillitz69's picture

i am game.send the i will join asap

InGeneral's picture

I see Hex is registered for the winning team.  Only problem is, Hex is supposed to be on the EU team instead.  ;P

Burg's picture

I'll play, but will be on vacation for a week in early August and possibly have my play hindered (will certainly try to avoid missing a turn). If anyone's too concerned about that, though, I'm happy to step aside.

Need we create a new game to undo Hex's defection to the good guys? :-)

InGeneral's picture

I'm in a game with Hex, I sent an in game message.

As much as I hate to pull out of a great looking game like this, I've had to un-register. My upcoming travel has gotten more complicated, and the game's start has been delayed while collecting players so I'm confident I'd end up missing a few critical turns. Happy to play in the future, though! Good luck US, er, non-EU..

Game on,

Burg

InGeneral's picture

Tiger FYI... if it gets down to Sam05, you can skip and go to the next one, that's a banned account.

mateuszbiernat's picture

you guys can't remove banned accounts from the board?

InGeneral's picture

No, unfortunately.  We usually get to multi-accounters long before they make it that high on the leader board.  This guy employed a tactic to rise very quicky however, that's how he got as far as he did.

Admin might be able to remove them but it's not a big deal and they've got much more important things on their plate.

InGeneral's picture

Tigerpiper did you delete the game?

peavybob's picture

Yeah, I think he did.  I'm thinking it might be better to do it a little smaller anyway.  maybe 3v3 or so.  And maybe change it to english speaking countries. lol

peavybob's picture

Wow, I just noticed,  Shaka is getting close to passing Bromley!  How the hell did that happen?

Bromley86's picture

>Wow, I just noticed,  Shaka is getting close to passing Bromley!

Wrong way around.  I'm closing on second; it's nearly within my grasp :) .

I lost a 1v1 against a low ranked player (300 points) and just lost to Killitz/Ovo (130 points).  Every time I win I get ~25 points, but I'm only playing 2 games at the moment (one a week-long with General on a go-slow :) ), so there's not been much coming in.  I haven't really been paying attention, but I don't think Shaka has played for 6-12m.

Actually, that might have been a good winning strategy when I was 400+ points ahead :D .
