Heads Up Indian Ocean tournament - Results thread

Due to the large number of byes, some players have a 1st round opponent, some have advanced to the 2nd round, and some already have 2nd round opponents. I see no reason to delay any games at this point, so I am going to simply list everyone who has a human opponent first, and you may all begin your games. I will put an asterick * next to a player, it is your responsibility to set up the game and send a private message to your opponent with the game ID and password.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are in this tournament, you MUST have your private messages turned on for obvious reasons. From the menu on the left, select "My account", next to your user name click "Edit", then scroll down and make sure both the private message setting boxes are checked ("Allow private messages" and "Aggressive notification of new messages"). If for some reason you don't want these on, you can turn them back off after the tournament is over, but for now you need this obviously to get the game details to join your games!

Specific Game set up instructions, players with the * next to their name should set these up and PM their opponent the game ID and password:
-Create a game
-Create a Multiplayer game
-Select Indian Ocean, No Teams
-Proceed to Step 2
-Select:
---Human Players 2
---Private Game, only people that I provide a password to will be able to join
---No starting forces, checks in the check-boxes for No Pre-set Factories & Automatically add a factory to each player's capital
---Players must retake their lost capital next turn or be eliminated
-Proceed to Step 3
-Set Early Victory Conditions to 2 capitals, 175 Income
-Proceed to Step 4
-Select Nation Picking Type: Scattered, Turn Speed: Normal (24 hours/turn)
-Max game turns = 100, max game duration = 100 days
-Create New Game
If there are any questions, please let me know, post here or PM. If your opponent does not join the game after 3 days once you've created it, please let me know. If you are the game creator or the opponent, and can not join or set up the game within 3 days, please let me know! I will be as flexible as possible, but we do want to avoid someone holding the tournament up for weeks on end, so that's the purpose here.

Please post game results here. I will update the bracket accordingly and request new game set ups as people move through the brackets. I know this thread will get muddled, so for future game set ups I will also send out a PM notifying the players of their new matchup. You can always return here early and often to keep tabs of how the tournament is progressing!

I'm gonna be going on a business trip in about a week, and i'll be gone for another 2. Can I wait until I get back to do my next game? I don't want to have to deadbeat in the middle of a tournament game.
When is your trip bob? If you're not leaving for an entire week, I'd think you can get the next game done in that time... you'll may have a wait anyway after that for your next opponent.
Also how long are you going to be gone?

I'll be gone 2 weeks. I've been trying to get out of all my games for the last several weeks but I'm still in 3 ten human epics that don't look like they'll be done in time. I'd rather not risk my opponent trying to drag it out in order to beat me on autoplay.

I don't mind giving a couple weeks under the circumstances, but I'm not inclined to hold the tournament up for a month. If I understand the timeframe, and maybe I need clarification, but bob will be in game for the next week (or so), and then out of town for 2 weeks. If we hold your match til bob returns, then we're talking almost a month to determine a winner from that match, and I'm not going to do that.
If I've understood the timeframes correctly, then let's do this... peavybob and donaldduck start up. It sounds like donald is willing to work with you here and be honorable about the situation, so with roughly a week I think you guys can finish assuming 1) donald agrees to get turns in as often as possible and not stall, and/or 2) maybe you guys can even work out an evening where you'll both be around and can take several turns in succession and get the match done. donald, can you agree to this? (at least to #1, if not both)
Once your match is done you'll be closer to leaving, and if bob wins he won't even have an opponent yet, and we'll grant the 2 weeks leave. If bob loses, he has an opponent in the 1-loss bracket BUT the winner of that match will still be waiting as they'll be ahead of the bracket seeding to play their winner, so there's no major rush them to get rolling either.

Is anything going on with the Doc/Barka match?
Yes, Barka relocated, he expected to have internet access at his temporary quarters but it didn't happen. He communicated with me, we expect him to be up and running shortly. Please be patient, it will probably be another week before you get your next opponent, since you're waiting on 2 matches to complete.
No rush, I was just wondering as I hadnt heard anything. Should be a pretty good match between them anyway.
Yes, thank you for your patience, and likewise thanks to Hex for his patience as well, and drkillitz for his as he awaits the loser of the Barka/docbrown match.
In other news:
-peavybob will be out of town for 2 weeks. He's also waiting for the results of Barka/docbrown, then Hex vs B/db winner, so that should line up with an opponent fairly close to his return.
-kdoggiedog has to drop out of the tournament. His opponent in the 1-loss bracket will automatically advance.

Sheesh. This is a tough side of the bracket! Do you realize that my first 3 games in the tournament are against #7, #3, and #5 in that order (assuming I win each one)?! Ouch!!! I'll start up the next one tonight (and try to get caught up with recording results in the doubles tournament).
