More Help For New Players

Hello all,

To help new players learn the ropes, we have added some nice new rule assistance prompts in the game. We have also added some mini-video tutorials to help players learn some of the core rules. The consolidated Rules and How To Play page also has a link to the videos.

See you on the battlefield,

    The FORCES Team.

I am a relatively new player, and I have looked through the rules and have spent an hour looking through posts in the general discussion area.  I am still having problems understanding how casualties are calculated.  My main missunderstanding is around large attacking forces.  For example if an attacking force of 50 tanks takes on 3 infantry.  In combat do the defenders have 3 roles at 30% each at taking a few tanks out.  Some have suggested that large attacking forces have an advantage.  Others have suggested that it is possible to be "killed" before given the opportunity to "fire" or role i.e. there is a sequence of events.  Any clarification here would be awesome.  Thanks!

from my experiance an overwhelmingly large force such as 50 tanks 90% of the time not suffer any casulty against 3 infantry. so i guess the infantry does roll dice before it gets killed but the chances of it scorring actual hit is really small.

what I am curious about is why the same unit can withstand many many attacks and not die!!!!

Yep, I used to believe that large forces limited your casualties.  But now I think the game just rolls for both sides and then applies the hits (as you say, your 3 inf would have 3 x 30% rolls).

Large forces do still help though.  You'd expect to lose more if you took 10 tanks against 10 inf than if you took 20, but that's because you'd expect to take 2 turns to kill all 10I if you only have 10T, which gives the survivors another chance to shoot you next turn.
